Prairie Birding Adventure

Take a 4-hour swamp buggy excursion into the Preserve, all the way to Gum Slough, where the last Carolina Parakeet nest was found with expert Florida naturalist and professional birder David Simpson. Learn about Florida's colorful native parakeets and the critically-endangered Florida Grasshopper Sparrow. You are likely to see Swallow-tailed Kite, Crested Caracara, Burrowing Owl, Bachman's Sparrow, Northern Bobwhite, Eastern Meadowlark, and many other birds. (White-tailed Kite is possible!) David's incredible knowledge of birds and other wildlife you encounter, access to harder-to-reach areas of the Preserve, plus a great view from atop the buggy, add up to a unique, unforgettable experience!
$100 per person. (includes park admission fee)

Once paid, you will get confirmation emails from PayPal and from the Friends of Kissimmee Prairie Preserve. Registration is limited and first come / first serve. All proceeds benefit Friends of Kissimmee Prairie Preserve.
No park entry fee required. Please bring your own snacks or lunch, water, a hat, sun screen and bug repellant. Kissimmee Prairie Preserve is at 33104 NW 192nd Avenue, Okeechobee, FL (Map).

Fitness Requirements: Ability to walk on uneven ground in the prairie and to step up to get in and out of the swamp buggy. You will be required to sign a waiver of liability before participating.
